Enhanced Safety for European Afghanistan Mission
Newly Formed EMS Global Tracking to Provide a Force Tracking Solution
EMS Global Tracking, a newly formed division within EMS Technologies, launched its new name with news that it will provide a Blue Force Tracking system to the European Union (EU) mission for use in Afghanistan. The solution provides force tracking capabilities including tracks for situational awareness and command and control (C2), emergency alerting, and integration into other strategic Force Tracking systems. This further enhances EMS Global Tracking’s position in the Force Tracking industry, where more than 5,000 units have been deployed.
"This is the ideal application of our Force Tracking system," says Dino Koutrouki, EMS Global Tracking general manager. "We have leveraged previous force tracking experience to further develop our multi-protocol gateway. This technology is a significant enabler for secure situational awareness and command and control, providing the mission with interoperability, flexibility and very low latency."
The turnkey solution, which will provide GPS position reports and emergency location information, will assist in the EU's mission to rebuild the country's infrastructure. The solution is composed of Packet Data Terminals, a multi-protocol gateway and other ruggedized components, a Web-based mapping application and an operations facility for monitoring and managing high-value assets, both personnel and vehicles. The solution will equip specially selected vehicles and provide 24x7 in-country support personnel.
“EMS Global Tracking's Force Tracking solution offers a number of important benefits directly off-the-shelf, “ notes sales director, Giles Peeters. “One such key feature is the ability to configure and update devices over the air, including updates to firmware if required. This will help the European mission be more efficient and flexible in providing high-value services to enhance the safety of EU personnel.”
